I am sure many of you have seen the Iron Man movies and would agree that this house is very reminiscent of Tony Stark's house in terms of location and architectural design. The two-storey house, designed by Durbach Block Architects (completed in 2004), sits on the edge of a 70-metre cliff with mind-blowing views. The design and structure was inspired by Picasso's painting The Bather which focuses on fluid forms and a sense of freedom - the house sits on four angled stilts and boasts curves, arcs and stretched folds. The exterior consists of irregular stone walls, eccentric terraces, a beautiful top floor garden and a vase-shaped lower level swimming pool while the immaculate interior hosts fluid living spaces and areas that cantilever over the ocean.
It is an incredible house, probably one of my favourites. Although it is isolated, I can envisage sleeping in such a house with views of the ocean and the surrounding soothing sound of the waves. Bliss.
